San Jose, CA (August 24, 2010) – The City of San José and the County of Santa Clara are pleased to announce SCCHousingSearch.org, a new affordable rental housing listing for San Jose and Santa Clara County. The free-to-use website is designed to give renters, landlords, housing professionals, and social service providers access to real-time rental housing information. Listings can include pictures, maps, and information about nearby amenities such as, parks, schools, and hospitals. *Affordable rentals can be listed at or below 120% of the Fair Market Rate (FMR). For example, the maximum allowable rents are: Studio $1,238; 1 Bedroom $1,435; 2 Bedroom $1,726; 3 Bedroom $2,482; 4 Bedroom $2,731.

SCCHousingSearch.org can be accessed online or via toll-free phone, and is fully supported by a toll-free, bilingual (Spanish and English) call and is now open for landlords to list properties. A free property search for renters will launch on September 1, 2010.

SCCHousingSearch.org offers landlords, including those offering critically needed affordable and special-needs housing, a place to advertise properties at no cost, while helping renters easily find units that fit their specific needs. This service is also an invaluable tool during times of disaster, putting up-to-date housing information at the fingertips of displaced disaster victims.

"Ensuring access to housing information and resources, in addition to having a place to send people for fast housing information when disaster strikes, is vital to the health of our community,“ said Mayor Chuck Reed. “If you are a provider of rental housing, I encourage you to check out this service and list your properties today," added Reed.

The SCCHousingSearch.org website offers 24-hour access to managing, adding and updating property listings. Detailed property listings let landlords highlight amenities and special features, as well as add photos. Landlords can also use the property search feature to make neighborhood and pricing comparisons. All property providers in the County are encouraged to list rentals on SCCHousingSearch.org as soon as possible. The City of San Jose will advertise the website beginning September 1, 2010.
